DIY Plaid Infinity Scarf

Posted by on February 24, 2012

I recently saw a girl wearing a plaid infinity scarf and I just had to have one! Infinity scarfs seem to be my staple item this winter and who doesn’t love plaid? I noticed an old pair of plaid Ralph Lauren pajama pants tucked away in my closet that would be perfect for this project. I was able to skip the fabric store and use the fabric from my pjs to make the scarf.  And come on…who does plaid better than RL?!?  So I grabbed the sewing machine and some scissors and went to town.

First I cut the pants in half right down the crotch and then again down the inner seams.

Next, turn each leg inside out, fold over, and sew a straight stitch down either side. Once they are sewn you will have two individual pant legs. Turn each pant leg right side out and pin the two bottom openings of the pants. This will form one long piece (as shown above).

I then sewed a straight stitch over the pinned area which connected the two bottom pieces together and did the same thing on the other side to form a complete circle.

The finished product was this super cute infinity scarf!

Wear it triple looped (as shown in the first picture) or double looped shown here! I absolutely love it and it’s turning out to be one of my warmest infinity scarfs!

The best part is… I had some leftover fabric and made Walker one, too!!

cheers,

Aly
