My dad is a pastor and marriage counseling comes with the territory. It’s likely that some of you reading this blog have even had marital or pre-marital counseling with him. If you have, you’ve probably heard him say his token line…”Marriage is fragile, ignore it, and it will go away.” It’s such a simple statement and I’ve honestly never given it much thought until recently. Since having Walker I’ve noticed (like any mom) that most of my energy is spent on meeting his needs. By the time the evening rolls around, it can feel like a chore to think about what Chris may be needing or wanting from me.
The good thing is…I’m aware of how quickly parenthood can take a toll on your marriage and I’m trying my best to stay on my A game. Chris is all about quality time and thoughtfulness, so keeping this in mind I found a great use for my recent DIY project.
I was upstairs giving Walker a bath when Chris returned home (from a 30 hr shift!) to find this little message from us. Good wine, QT with his wifey, and a TiVoed episode of Up All Night made for a perfect evening together.
Now to make of this tray… No tutorial is needed. I found it at a thrift shop and painted the inside with chalkboard paint.
The possibilities are endless. Next time it may say, “Just Because We Love You!” or “Happy Birthday!” accompanied with breakfast in bed.

This made me smile. You are so thoughtful, Aly. Chris and Walker are lucky guys!!
Your the best Aly… Great idea!
love this. you are a good wife and mom!
